The composition of the Arman flora is unusual. It consists of a peculiar combination of Early and Late Cretaceous taxa (Samylina, 1974; 1976; 1988). Dominants of the Arman’ Flora include typical Early Cretaceous and even Jurassic forms (four Podozamites species and Birisia ochotica close to the Early Cretaceous B. alata) associated with plants widespread in the Late Cretaceous floras (Cephalotaxopsis and Sequoia).
Among the subordinate taxa relictual Early Cretaceous forms are found that are common in Albian deposits of Northeast Asia and North America. These are Asplenium popovii, Acrostichopteris longifolia, Cladophlebis cf. virginensis, Lobifolia holttumi, Ginkgo ex gr. sibirica, Czekanowskia ex gr. rigida, Phoenicopsis ex gr. angustifolia, Leptostrobus marginatus, Sagenopteris aff. variabilis, Pagiophyllum triangulare, Celastrophyllum latifolium, and others.
The Arman’ Flora is also rich in plants typical of the Late Cretaceous floras. In addition to conifers Cephalotaxopsis and Sequoia mentioned above, Gleichenia rinkiana and a large group of angiosperms are worthy of particular note. Especially remarkable among the angiosperms are lobed leaves Araliaephyllum, platanoids Arthollia, Paraprotophyllum, Ettingshausenia and Pseudoprotophyllum, two or three Trochodendroides species, the compound leaved Scheffleraephyllum and Dalembia, and remains of presumably aquatic plants known as Brasenites.
