Description
Leaf: simple (?); symmetrical (?); shape unknown; apex missing; base peltate; margin dentate with large teeth possessing acute apices, concave sides, and rounded sinuses; venation actinodromous; three strong veins originating at the point of insertion of the petiole and diverging at angles of 40-50°; four veins of secondary order also radiating from the petiole and terminating at the apices of the teeth; tertiary veins arising from both the primary and the secondary veins approximately at right angles, recurrent, simple and convex.
Remarks
This unfortunately incomplete leaf possibly represents part of a leaf such as 'Menispermites' dauricumoides Bell (1957, Plate 34, Figs. 1 and 3) from the Comox and Protection Formations, although with such a small piece of lamina present it is difficult to make any reliable determinations. Comparison should also be made with Menispermites kryshtofovichii Vachrameev (Takhtajan, 1974; Plate 37, Fig. 5; Plate 40, Fig. 7, p. 99) from the Cenomanian of the U.S.S.R.
